Check if Schengen visa is not required
If your non-EU family member holds a residence card or residence permit issued by a Schengen area country, they may not need a visa. Use the tool below to check if they require a visa for the country they are traveling to.
Choose a residence card (as a family member of an EU citizen) issued by any EU country other than the one I am a national of,
then:
Your non-EU family member does not need a visa if they have a residence card.
With this residence card (or permanent residence card), your non-EU family member can travel visa-free to all EU countries (including your home country), as well as to Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway, even without being accompanied by you. This applies regardless of which EU country issued their residence card or the country they are visiting.

You must obtain written confirmation from the airline about the refusal of boarding in order to file a complaint against the airline and receive a refund of tickets and related expenses.
