Example legalization for Lebanon in Cyprus
For legalization we need
- original of the document or certified copy,
- copy of passport of the owner of the document,
- power of attorney.
- The original of the document,
- A true copy of the document is also accepted only if it has been notarized by the certifying officer in the Republic of Cyprus or certified by the Municipality where it was originally issued.
Any official government documents issued by Cyprus:
- Birth certificate
- Marriage certificate
- Certificate of divorce
- Death certificate
- Certificate of adoption / adoption order
- Evidence of a change of surname, name, patronymic
- Evidence of paternity / maternity
- Certificate of good conduct (police certificate)
- Identity card
- Passport
Legalization on documents about education:
- Diploma
- Appendix to the Diploma
- Certificate
Legalization on business documents:
- Certificates of Incorporation issued by the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver in Cyprus
- Statements
- Consent
- Power of Attorney
- Other documents certified by a notary
- Contracts
- Memorandum and Articles of Association (Charter) of the Company.
1) Fill out an application for Marriage Registration at the Embassy. The marriage application must be signed by both spouses at the embassy in person.
If through an agent, submit a power of attorney at a notary public in Lebanon, signed by both spouses and legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon.
2) Marriage certificate, 2 originals or true copies legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus.
3) Spouses Documents:
3.1) If both spouses are Lebanese citizens
- Original individual civil status (Ikhraj kayd fardi) for each, valid for no more than 3 months
- Original family civil status for each, valid for no more than 3 months.
Must be legalised by the Ministry of Interior and then by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon and 1 photocopy of each.
3.2)If one spouse is not a Lebanese citizen
- Birth certificate (long form mentioning mother’s name and maiden name, father’s name, date and place of birth) and 2 photocopies.
- If single, 2 photocopies of celibacy statement.
3.3) If one spouse is divorced
- Lebanese citizens must provide a true copy of the divorce certificate, legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon and 1 photocopy.
- Foreign spouses must provide 2 photocopies of the divorce certificate.
4) 2 photocopies of each spouse’s passport.
Embassy’s fee €17.00.
1) Fill out an application for Birth Registration by both parents at the embassy.
If through an agent, submit a power of attorney at a notary public in Lebanon, signed by both spouses and legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon.
2) Original birth certificate (long form) legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus.
3) Original Family civil status 'Ikhraj kayd' (not older than 1 year), legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon and one photocopy.
4) Lebanese original or true copy Marriage Certificate legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon with one photocopy.
5) 2 photocopies of parents passports.
Embassy’s fee €17.00.
1) Fill out an application for Divorce Registration at the embassy.
2) Original family civil status ‘Ikhraj kayd’ (not older than 3 months), legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon with one photocopy.
3) Lebanese original or true copy Marriage Certificate legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon (as registered in Lebanon) with one photocopy.
4) Original Divorce Judgement translated to Arabic by a certified translator legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus on both sides (Arabic & Greek)
Please ensure that the date of marriage mentioned on the Judgement and the Certificate of Divorce is identical to the date of marriage mentioned on the certificate of marriage issued by the Lebanese authorities.
5) The Divorce must be final (effective 41 days after the judgement is pronounced); the divorce order should bear the sentence “Final judgement”.
6) A copy of a special power of attorney from one of the divorced spouses to a person to execute their divorce in Lebanon. The proxy must mention the person’s full address and phone number.
7) 2 photocopies of the spouses passports.
Fees for legalization of the divorce papers are €56.00.
1) Fill out an application for Death Registration at the Embassy.
2) Original Death Certificate, legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus.
3) Original family civil status ‘Ikhraj kayd’ (not older than 1 year), legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lebanon with one photocopy.
4) The original passport of the deceased.
